These are the last two embryos I have in inventory from Melita Rose 5021 and I have been saving them to implant myself. When trying to decide on an embryo lot to start this sale offering, I had a weak moment and I have decided to offer them as lot 1 in this years sale. 5021 is best known for being the dam of Waularu Patent 5121, but she was much more than that. She produced many excellent breeding offspring and also was a very successful donor female. Her embryos have sold around the world. Her mating with Fire Storm who is presently one of the most popular sires in the breed, should be exciting !

This may be one of the most exciting genetic combinations we have offered in some time. Dottie 72R has proven herself as a solid producer. Thermal Energy has sired record selling sons and most impressive daughters on 3 continents. I don't know what more to say, other than if I was 10 years younger, I would be implanting as many of these embryos myself. Study your lessons here!

Another genetic combination that should get your attention if you are serious about advacing your Shorthorn herd into the future. Dottie 72R is one of the most troublefree cows I have ever owned. She has lived on grass and hay since arriving here. She has calved unassisted to 7 different bulls and she possesses the udder of a female 1/3 her age. She is now approaching her 17th birthday. She has settled to her first service every year whether it be a natural or AI breeding. Even after returning from being extensively flushed, she settled AI to the first breeding. Dr Pepper in my opinion is one of the best breeding beef sires in the breed at the present time. Just ask Creta Haydock if she likes her Dr Pepper calves? He is also defect free, Myostatin free and homozygous polled. The Grand Champion bull at Agribition a month ago, was sired by Dr Pepper.

This is a proven combinmation of genetics! Girdon Buck in New York purchased a set of Ultra 8C X Dottie embryos and was so impressed with his calves that he purchased another set this year. He says these calves are the best he has ever produced! Ultra 8C was a tremendous breeding beef bull in the herd of the late Ron Carter in BC and also in the Eionmor herd in Alberta. He has also been a very successful AI sire in herds around the world. I consider Ultra 8C to be a sire who was far ahead of his time!

We sold a set of embryos from this genetic combination to Cagwin Farms, Virginisa, IL and they got an excellent set of calves. They used a bull that resulted from these embryos in their herd and also showed him in the US successfully. 86Z has a great udder with lots of milk. One of her daughters is a beautiful two year old that is presently being flushed for the UK.

Red Nan was bred to Stockman when Martyn Moore and us partnered to purchase her at the top of the Waukaru sale. She gave us a red polled bull calf that was impressive and he sold for $8000 in the Sun Country Sale to one of our best commerical customers. His calves have been impressive and many of his daughters have been retained as replacements. Ray and Anna Rintoul, Simpson, SK also purchased a set of embryos from this flush and the calves they had born have been standouts. They have retained one bull from these embryos as a herd sire in their herd.

This is a combination of genetics that should really work! Red Nan has been a proven producer for us and she is one of the best embryo producers we have ever been involved with. The Foreman calves are made just like him, that is they have volume, thickness, softness and easy fleshing ability. They are also growthy and sound structured. Whether you get bulls or heifers or both sexes, you will be glad you made this investment!

We do not know of many doses of the Australian legend Weebollabolla Theodore T85 left in Canada. I have decided to offer two lots of 5 straws each to this sale as a feature. Theodore was the tremendous sire used at Marellan and Royalla in Australia, and he has been called the Shorthorn sire that brought cattlemen back to using Shorthorn bulls again down there, His sons and daughters are functional and have incredible longevity. They are sound structured and fertile. We sold a Theodore son to a large commerical herd several years ago and he was used in that herd for 12 years. They kept almost every daughter as a herd replacement. In our 2017 herd reduction sale, we sold a 10 year old Theodore daughter to Starbright Shorthorns and she is still in production today. The Theodore semen that was left in Canada has been shipped back to Australia as the Marellan and Royalla herds are planning to use Theodore in their herds again. This may be your last opportunity to obtain semen from this legendary sire!

Touchdown was our last ET calf born in 2007 and I well remember finding him still wet and sucking his recip mom on that May morning. He looked very special even as a newborn. When he was two months of age, some Charolais breeders came to see our herd, and they picked him out immediately. They jumped out of the truck and walked around and around him and said they had never seen a two month old calf with such muscle expression in his lower quarter. One of these visitors asked me to price him and Touchdown became one of the youngest bulls we ever sold. He continued to develop well and went on to be the 2009 Canadian National Champion bull. After seeing him at the show, we decided to try to buy him back as we were looking for a herd sire. It took a lot of negotiation and a lot more money that we had got for him, but he came back here and was a herd sire for another 7 years. Looking back he was one of the best breeding sires we ever owned. He was a bull that was hard to fault, from his perfect feet and legs, to his beautiful temperament, to his thickness and volume. His daughters have excellent udders and milk well. His calves are born easily and he has been used successfully on heifers.

Ultra-Bright was a bull from Andy Withers, Belmore herd in Australia, that some semen was exported to Canada. He was a bull that was probably ahead of his time! I have only seen a few Ultra Bright progeny, but I have liked all of them. A few years ago, after many weeks of baling hay, I decided to fly to Ontario and tour as many Shorthorn herds as I could over 4 days. On this tour, I saw 4 Ultra-Bright females in 4 different herds. These cows were older, but I thought they were the best cows I had seen in these herds, I tried to buy all of them but each of their owners would not sell them as they were their best cows. I decided that if I ever found any Ultra Bright semen I would use it to flush a couple donors. Last year, I found this semen in an AI cooperative that was using it to breed dairy cows. This was all they had left so I bought it all. I am still looking for a picture of Ultra-Bright but haven't found one yet. I know there is one, as I have seen it and I have a mental image in my head. Now if I could just figure out how to transfer this picture from my head to the computer screen! I will continue to look up until sale day. I have decided to offer this semen in this sale as I have to reduce my semen inventory.

Leader's Legacy 9U sold in the Agribition that year for $5850 for 1/2 interest to Galbreath Farms in North Dakota. He sired moderate framed soft made offspring and was a calving ease specialist. He is an excellent choice for use on heifers.

Many older Shorthorn breeders will remember the 1978 Agribition show where Claydene Ever Reddy was named the Grand Champion bull for Bert Pepper. He had also been Grand Champion Bull at the Royal Winter Fair that fall as well. Ever Reddy created a real stir in the barns that fall and an even bigger stir when his calves started hitting the ground. Both his bull and heifer calves were very good and popular. One fall we purchased a load of Ever Reddy bull calves from Bert Pepper and we sold them all to commerical buyers and they were all happy with how these bulls bred. His daughters were thick and fleshy with excellent udders and milk. Ever Reddy has a most unique pedigree as he is sired by the legendary Lincoln Red sire, Gotho Signal 3rd. This is another semen opportunity that may never be offered again!

Homedale Flash was the 1991 Grand Champion Bull at Canadian Western Agribition. He was a son of AF Dividend's Impact, the sire that made Schrag Shorthorns in South Dakota a household name in the breed. The Impact daughters in the Schrag herd were simply outstanding. The dam of Flash is Homedale Ruby D4, and excellent daughter of IDS Duke of Dublin. The Ruby cow family has produced many of their best at Homedale for many years. After we sold 10 straws of Homedale Flash in last years sale, two breeders commented that some of their best cows today trace to females that were sired by him.

One of our very best Bred heifers is a True Blue daughter. He is defect free and homozygous polled. They are thick and have great muscling. This is the last True Blue semen we have to offer.

I imported this semen from Creole 135 from Frank Kaehler in Minnesota after I saw some of his daughters there and he told me that this bull was a great bull to use on heifers because of his calving ease. His calves are born easily and he is homozygous polled. His daughters are making great momma cows with great udders. They are moderate framed, feminine and smooth, and easy fleshing, I offered a cane of this semen in this sale two years ago, and it was purchased by Hill Haven to use on their heifers. If you want to know how he worked for them, contact Matt at Hill Haven and I'm pretty sure he will tell you how impressed he is. This is another sale feature in the semen side of this offering. I really recommend this bull if you are looking for a calving ease bull that also gives you calves that are good breeding pieces.
I am very pleased with our first set of Creole calves. They have been born easily and are showing excellent growth. They have been moderate framed with thickness and soundness. |

We imported semen from Creole 135 after seeing his daughters in production in Frank Kaelher's Homedale herd. They are an impressive bunch with moderate frames, super udders and milk. They appear to be very fertile. Creole 135 has been acclaimed as a bull that is safe for use on heifers, and we have certainly found this to be true. He is also a homozygous polled sire that is defect free. Hill Haven Farm in Ontario has purchased the Creole 135 semen we have offered in the last two online sales. They are very pleased with their Creole 135 calves they have got from their heifers.

We announced last spring that we were officially sold out of Ready Go semen but recently found a few more vials in one of of tanks. Ready Go is a calving ease sire that has been used on heifers for decades. What is even better is that his offspring are excellent breeding pieces. His daughters are legendary for their maternal traits. They are fertile, and have great udders and lots of milk. I don't know of many other bulls that can convert a bad udder to a very good udder in one generation like Ready Go does. He also was homozygous polled and he adds longevity to his offspring. We used Ready Go in our herd for 6 years and then sold him to a breeder in Colorado. Ready Go sold in his dispersal as a 12 year olf bull and sold for breeding again. Ready Go is the only bull we have sold semen from for almost 50 years and his semen has been used in several countries. This will definitely be one of the last opportunities to purchase his semen!
